Photo hosting sites

Up to now I've always just dropped photos onto my web site or emailed them to interested parties. But that doesn't give me an easily managed way to put up collections of shots or have a nice gallery display - I have to hard-code it all myself. I've noticed that a lot of WL folks are using Picasa to host their work. What are some good sites for hosting photos?

Free or Fee?
Photo hosting comes in two varieties.
PBase has both free hosting (10mb max) and fee hosting
(roughly $10 a year will get you 50mb last time I checked).
Picasa is free, works seamlessly with gmail and on forums once you learn the copy image location trick. The downside - all of the images are being catalogued by google for future use(es). If your content is copyright material you may have some difficulty protecting that copyright should you ever need to or want to.
There are a whole bunch of other photo hosting options rangine from folks like me (and Terry Powell) who offer to host for friends, on up.
The question I'd ask is - how important is a fancy gallery presentation?
