Photo from 1994 500cc GP at Laguna Seca. (Norick finished 6th)

I used PS quick mask to eliminate background color. 

Select quick mask and use the brush tool at 100% to 'paint' the bike/rider

Switch back to regular mode and zero out the background color (Image - Adjust - Hue/Saturation - Saturation = 0)

Crop (I use 1.46 to 1 so that it prints on 13X19 with even borders - 8X10 would be 1.25 to 1)
