The day after Martin and Carol's re-hitching ceremony Deb and I had breakfast with the WL crowd that overnight-ed at the Lodge. We headed home and I proceeded to power wash a lot of really gross stuff in the backyard. I guess partying with WL just puts me in a house husband sort of mood.
Just as I finishing up Steve D. called and said that he and Kitten were getting ready to leave for Cascade Locks. I had previously agreed to keep them company on the ride back to Kitten's place.
Stripping down I got out of all the mud and power washing debris covered clothes and got geared up to ride out with them. I had to check the tires (the bike has been sitting for two months) and get my heated jacket liner hooked up and I was on my way. Met up with Steve and Kitten at Steve's place and we eventually headed out to the highway and east to the Gorge.
Once we got past Troutdale I switched on the cruise control and let go of the throttle. Bike slows down. I try again. Bike slows down again. Then I notice that the cruise light is not on on the dash. Then I remember that there is a red LED on the switch that lights when you turn on the cruise. No red LED is on. Shoot.
A little more fiddling around and I determine that pressure on the switch will power on the cruise but once the pressure is released the cruise is off. No amount of coercion fixes the problem. Sigh. My right wrist will have to survive. It will be back to BMWOR Tigard on Tuesday to see about ordering up a new switch cluster for the bike.
This is the second one. The bike was delivered with a sticky windshield up/down button (on the same cluster) and it was replaced soon after I got back to OR with the bike. This is almost as bad as Saab ownership. :-(
