We had winners!
In the dill category Gita for her delightful dilled eggplant salad.
For tomato, andrea's tomatoey chile (I have leftovers and you don't. It's GOOD to be the host.)
For Real Food, Jack's balls in sweet sauce.
For Chocolate, Slate and Jack's chocolate ganache.
For non-chocolate dessert Joe's gluten free happy chicken egg pumpkin pie in a pecan crust.
Best Bribe went to Rebecca MOAKS Wells, for an original issue Team Wetleather polo.
For Best Costume: Angela's adorable little Cecilia (who was wearing an actual costume, but was cute enough not to need one).
And finally, your happy gentlehost's Appreciation Award for Best Use of Negative Space was taken by the ever-delightful Dr. Lawrence.
"But WAIT!", you cry, "What happened to the artichokes?". Damned RIGHT "what happened to the artichokes!". You're all getting old and soft. In MY day we had HARD ingredients, but we cooked them ANYWAY (uphill, both ways, in the snow, with hand powered ovens). Nobody made an artichoke dish. None. Zip. The artichoke judge wandered the halls hungry and unbribed. It's not nice to annoy the judge.
Next years ingredients are (pause for trepidation to build (NO! DON'T GO DOWN IN THE BASEMENT! too late))
capers
parsnips
and SNAILS
See you next year, same batty time, same batty station, Martin
