Ingredients: | brown rice
2 Tbsp butter 2 Tbsp flour 2 c milk curry powder 1 can tuna 1 egg (hard boiled) |
||
Preparation: | Start by boiling rice. Not just any rice, brown rice, coz it's Good For You (tm). And not just any brown rice either, MJB rice in the brown box.
While the rice is boiling, make a white sauce: melt butter in a skillet over slow fire, add equal amounts flour to butter, stir until it's all a comparatively smooth yellow paste. Don't brown it, we're not talking roux here. Then add milk, a little at a time (I think the proportions were something like 2Tbsp butter, 2Tbsp flour and 2 C milk, but I could be misremembering. I always just do it by look and feel). Once that part's done, add "enough" curry powder to the white sauce. Then dump in the contents of one (non-family-size) can of tuna-in-water, flake it all out nicely, mix until the tuna's all coated. Slice a hardboiled egg over the top, then spoon the lot over the boiled rice. |
