Ingredients: | 1 tsp unsalted butter
4 large eggs 1 c firmly packed light brown sugar 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp freshly grated nutmeg (freshly grated is worth it!) 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1 c semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted 1/4 c Grand Marnier 2 c half-and-half 8-10 slices day-old white bread, crusts removed and cut into 1/2" cubes 2 c semi-sweet chocolate chips 2 cups heavy cream 1/8 cup granulated sugar 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1/8 tsp freshly grated nutmeg |

Preparation: | Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 6-cup loaf pan with butter.
Whisk the eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, melted chocolate, and Grand Marnier together in a large bowl until smooth. Add the half-and-half and mix well. Add the bread and let mixture sit for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour half the mixture into the loaf pan. Sprinkle with the unmelted chocolate chips (I honestly *never* use 2 cups here...usually just a cup or so.) Pour the remaining bread mixture over the chips. Bake about 55 minutes, until the pudding in the center is set. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Top with Spiced Cream (see below). Spiced Cream: Beat the cream and spices with an electric mixer until the mixture thickens and begins to form peaks. |
